Tooth-colored fillings have the additional advantage of bonding tightly to your teeth. Because the metals once used for older tooth fillings don't bond as well, more of your tooth had to be drilled away to ensure the metal tooth fillings fit securely. Now, with tooth-colored fillings, we can leave more tooth tissue intact.

Do Tooth Fillings Hurt?

Many wonder if tooth fillings hurt. The good news is, with modern dentistry, the process is generally painless:

Numbing: Dentists use local anesthesia, which might cause a brief pinch during the initial injection. Afterward, you won't feel pain.

Minimal Discomfort: During the procedure, you might feel pressure and vibrations, but not pain.

Material Matters: Tooth-colored composite resin fillings are often used, causing less sensitivity compared to metal fillings.

Post-Procedure: After the anesthesia wears off, you may experience mild sensitivity, easily managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.
